Purpose

At Incarnation, we envision “A world filled with God’s love and grace.” We hope you do too.

We welcome all with the grace and love we have first received. Whether you consider yourself a Christian or agnostic, confident in faith or full of questions, wondering or wandering, broken or on the journey to be more whole, conservative or liberal, from all ethnicities, orientations, or socio-economic classes, we want you to know how much God loves you, and we want to, too!

Process

For that kind of community to emerge, we have committed ourselves to being people filled with love and grace.

We engage that vision through two simple movements—the Inward Journey and the Outward Journey. Though simple in concept, these movements are a lifelong journey of discovering how deeply loved we are by God and how God has invited us to love the world with that same love.

  • Inward Journey: Experiences and practices that help us discover who we are as a beloved child of God, made in God’s image.
  • Outward Journey: Experiences and practices that help us discover and do what God has invited us to do in the world.

So our purposeful living in community is centered on learning to live and love like Jesus, for a lifetime.

Plan

We are actively engaged in a multi-year plan that is built on three pillars:

  • Deepening Faith: Learning to live and love like Jesus, for a lifetime.
  • Serving and Transforming Community: Co-creating a better, more loving world.
  • Responsible Stewardship: Caring for and sharing what God has first given us.

Partnership

We are a participating congregation in the larger Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Saint Paul Area Synod. Incarnation was formed by the consolidation of two area Lutheran churches in 1962. For more information on what Lutherans believe, click one of the links above.
