Communion
Communion is a part of every Sunday worship, and everyone is invited, without exception, to receive the bread and cup. It is one of the few places in our world where nobody is turned away, and where everyone who comes with open hands receives the same amount. Our celebration of Holy Communion is shaped by trust in God, whose abundant love is an unconditional gift and extends to all. We generally serve wafers (gluten-free available upon request). Then, participants dip the wafer into the divided cup, either into the red wine or the white juice.
Children of any age are welcome at the table. People of all ages are also welcome to come forward with arms crossed for a blessing. For those who wish to receive communion instruction before a first communion or deepen their understanding of communion, we offer a communion class for children and their caregivers prior to Maundy Thursday. On Maundy Thursday, we celebrate with those who have learned once again that “there is a place for you” at Jesus’ table.
