Confirmation
Confirmation is a time of intentional deepening of faith. It is a purposeful journey as we learn to live and love like Jesus for a lifetime. We will honor classic elements, such as Luther’s Small Catechism, while exploring more modern and contextual pieces, such as being kind and constructive on social media. We gather in a large group to celebrate what God is doing in our community on a large-scale, then spend most of our time together reflecting and practicing what we’re learning

A “Typical” Wednesday Night
- 5:00 PM – community meal (usually pizza, 2x/month)
- 6:00-7:15 PM – age-specific fun, fellowship, big & small groups
- 7:20 PM – done and on your way home
6th & 7th Grade Confirmation
In 6th- and 7th-grade confirmation, we focus on having fun & building community. This is a time to engage the core stories of the faith (Old Testament in 26-27) and develop significant Christ-Centered relationships with one another in small groups. We meet on Wednesday night, 6:00-7:15 PM.

Expectations
- Wednesday Attendance – students show up for all Confirmation/MSM programming, as best they can, because we are building a faith-community and Christ-centered identity
- Service – 8 hrs (4 within Incarnation, 4 outside in the community); service opportunities can be done as families or by the students independently
- Worship Attendance – we expect that families attend worship together 2x per month
In order to pull this off, we’ll need teams of people ready to roll up their sleeves and do this together (identify how you’d like to serve in the registration form):
- Small group guides
- Age-appropriate curriculum & discussion questions,
- Monthly events that will occur throughout the year
- Wednesday night, pizza people to help serve pizza

8th Grade Confirmation
In 8th grade, we’ll focus on engaging the core teachings of the faith and saying “yes, I want to learn more” about living out the commitments we make to one another and God in community through baptism.
Expectations
During the 9-month program-year
- Student attends all Wednesday night programming – 6 Core Courses + special events, etc, because we are building a faith-community and Christ-centered identity
- Parent Involvement – two of the 8th-grade Core Courses will be with a parent/caring adult (Family Faith Formation [9/30, 10/7, 21] and Hard Issues/Big Questions [4/7, 14]– total of 5 weeks), the rest will be in peer small groups with an adult guide
- 8 hrs of service (4 within Incarnation, 4 outside in the community); service opportunities can be done as families or by the students, independently.
- Worship Attendance – we expect that families attend worship together 2x per month
- Read the Gospel of Luke + reflection exercise for each chapter – total of 24 chapters
- Faith Project for Confirmation, Fall 2026 (Fall of 9th grade year) – see 9th grade confirmation intensive calendar
- Confirmation Sunday, October 25, 2026
- Confirmation is not a graduation – it’s an invitation to see you in high school ministry on Sunday night
