Advent Worship at Incarnation

Advent is a season of waiting and anticipation as we prepare for the coming Savior, Immanuel who is God with us. The season of Advent is also an invitation to be thoughtful about how we are present to God and others in the midst of the preparation.

Mid-Week Advent Worship

Wednesday, November 29, December 6 & 13 from 7 – 7:30 in the Sanctuary

This candlelight service uses the liturgy of Holden Evening Prayer and is a wonderful way to find some peace and calm in the midst of what can be a busy season.

The 2017 Sunday theme is “Waiting for Christ”
November 26: Waiting for Christ: Hope
December 3: Waiting for Christ: Peace
December 10: Waiting for Christ: Joy
December 17: Waiting for Christ: Love

Christmas Worship at Incarnation

Incarnation offers a variety of worship styles for Christmas. Use the following descriptions to choose the service that is the best fit for you or your family.

Christmas Eve Worship Services: Sunday, December 24

Please note there there will not be regular morning worship on this day. All worship services will be held in the Sanctuary.

1:00 & 3:00 p.m. for Young Families
These services are designed with young children in mind. Leaders will use pictures, Scripture readings and Christmas Carols to retell the story of the birth of our Savior. These services will last about 40 minutes and will include a brief message.

LifeHaven Baby Shower on Christmas Eve at the 1:00 & 3:00 p.m. services
During the Christmas Eve Services for Young families we will be throwing a “baby shower” for Incarnation’s ministry partner LifeHaven. Although Jesus received gifts fit for a king, he also received gifts like clothes and blankets that he needed. You’re invited to come for worship and bring a baby shower gift for the young moms at LifeHaven. Click Here for a full list of requested items.
5:00 p.m. with Communion and led by Worship Band, Nursery available
Candles and Christmas lights illuminate the worship space and set the tone for hearing the story of Jesus’ birth. The music will be traditional Christmas Carols led by the Worship Band. Pastor Gary Medin will preach. Communion will be served. This service is the only service with the nursery available. It is also the largest service so you’ll want to come early to avoid sitting in the Atrium. This service lasts just over an hour.

7:00 p.m.  with Communion and led by Worship Band
This service has the same content as the 5:00 service and is a great choice if you like this style of worship but want to avoid the crowds. Even though there isn’t nursery available during this service, there is enough happening in worship to engage young children and special resources available to occupy little ones during the service if needed. This service lasts about an hour.

9:00 & 11:00 p.m. with Communion and led by Organ and Choirs
Candles and Christmas lights also create a beautiful setting in the Sanctuary during these worship services. The music will be traditional Christmas Carols led by the organ and special music provided by the choirs. Pastor Gary Medin will preach. Communion will be served. These services last about an hour.

Christmas Day Worship Service: Monday, December 25

10:00 a.m. Lessons and Carols with Communion. This service is held in the Sanctuary.

This service tells the larger story of God’s love for all people and the gift of our Savior Jesus through Scripture readings, Christmas Carols, and Holy Communion. Though the nursery is not available during this service, special resources are available to occupy young children during the service if needed.

Blessing of the Households: Sunday, December 31

We return to the regular Sunday worship schedule: 8:45 a.m. and 10:05 a.m. in the Sanctuary; 10:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in Incarnation Hall. The Blessing of the Households will be at all worship services. Communion will be available at 10:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Nursery available during all services.
