Resources for Parents

Children have the best experience growing in faith when churches and parents partner together. Use these resources to help reinforce what your child is learning at Incarnation.

Here’s what a typical hour at SPARK looks like.

spark checkingWelcome

Each child will check-in at the SPARK Check-in station and head to large group. Kids participate with their small group in an activity meant to help them grow in relationship with one another and to introduce the Bible story for the day.

Large Group Environment

large group 1In our large group environment children will have a time of worship where they will have the opportunity to sing as loud as they want and to respond to how God is moving and working in their lives. Children will then experience the Bible story come to life and help connect it to our daily life.

Small Group EnvironmentDSC_0036

After participating in Large Group, kids will travel back to their small group classroom where their leaders guide them in a time of activity to help support the Bible story they have heard. Their leaders will help them apply the Bible truth to their daily lives. We want kids to know that God is active and present in their lives and wants a loving relationship with them that will last through all eternity.

Wed Night MealsAn optional dinner is provided from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for students or families that choose to participate. Lesson Plans for SPARK Teachers

Preschoolers: First Look
first look logo
You’re a pre-schooler, and the world is bursting with newness. Each day is filled with one new discovery after another. Where did that bird come from? Look, the moon is shaped funny tonight! Who thought to color the butterfly like that? First Look uses engaging activities to introduce pre-school children (three to five) to God. First Look gives children a first impression of their heavenly Father and the wonder of His love for each one of them.

Grades K-4: 252 Basics
252basics_1Elementary-age kids are in a constant state of discovery. Think about all the different things they are trying for the first time and what they’re learning every day, even how to make (and keep) friends. How can we tap into the way kids are naturally wired to discover‚ so they can begin to experience for themselves who God is, how He sees them and how much He loves them? How can we show them God’s big story and help them discover the active part they can play in this life-long adventure, to be more like Him? 252 BASICS curriculum and resources PROVOKE DISCOVERY, inviting kids to live out their new understanding of how to grow in relationship with God and with others.

Each week, SPARK has amazing volunteers who have been equipped and trained to work with children in our SPARK Ministry. If you would like to play a part in the success of SPARK as a teacher, greeter, or help with special events please contact Rebecca Christiansen at

In order to be responsible for the safety of kids and for the protection of adult volunteers, in 2004 the Incarnation Council implemented the Policy for Protecting Children and Youth. For many volunteer positions in SPARK ministry substitute small group leader, adult volunteers need to submit a completed background check form at least one week prior to volunteering. Background checks are valid for 3 years.

First Time Guests

All are welcome here at Incarnation. If you would like to visit SPARK Ministry on Sunday or Wednesday, the Hosts at the Information Center will help you find the Children’s Resource Center. Our team will guide you through the first time guest process and you will be personally brought to your child’s classroom(s). We are happy to answer any questions you have about SPARK Ministry and will make you feel comfortable navigating your way through Incarnation.

Special Needs

We have options available for kids with special needs. For more information, contact Rebecca Christiansen.

If you decide that would like your child(ren) to be a regular attendee of SPARK Ministry, we highly recommend that you enroll your child and make a commitment to attend the same hour of SPARK Ministry every Sunday. Your child(ren) will then be able to form relationships with adults and children their own age. Registration forms are at the top of this page.
