For Parents and Grandparents

Incarnation is honored to walk with you as you parent your precious children. We believe wholeheartedly that faith formation starts in the home. We have a strong belief that we as the church are here to surround you and support you as you meet the challenges and experience the joys of that task! Deuteronomy 6 teaches us:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.

There is a beautiful promise associated with this command. That we are to do this our whole life long, so that our children’s children will worship, love, and be in awe of the LORD. All of the Children, Youth, and Family opportunities are designed to support this endeavor; but, along with the Faith Stepping Stones, the following opportunities are designed especially for parents/guardians and grandparents.

God Loves Moms small group

Once/month on Fridays, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Focus area: Moms with young children (infants to early elementary)

How does God show love to you and through you to others? How does God show up in the challenges and blessings of a typical day? This small group is a chance to meet other moms and gather around the stories of women in the Bible. It’s a chance to explore how each woman in the Bible served as an example of God’s love – and how you do too! Take a break to discover God’s love for you and how it shows through you to others! The group will gather around the book God Loves Moms (cph.org/p-18457-god-loves-moms.aspx). Suggested contribution: $10.

Friendship & Purpose with God’s Love small group

Twice/month on Wednesdays, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Focus area: Moms (open to all moms, designed for moms of preschoolers)

Friendship – it’s a gift that God wants for us, but in today’s busy world it can often get lost, set aside, or be tough to do. This small group is a chance to remember that Jesus is the ultimate friend, offering us love unconditionally and showing us how to love others. The group is also a chance to unpack what it means to be a friend and to love one another. The group will use the faith study “We Saved You a Seat” to guide the conversation and spark new ideas (www.lifeway.com/n/Product-Family/We-Saved-You-A-Seat). Meet new people and join the conversation! Suggested contribution: $10.

Holy Moments small group

Once/week on Thursdays, 7 – 8:30 p.m.

Focus area: Moms (open to all moms, designed for moms of middle/elementary school children)

What are the small, ordinary moments that make up your life? Our lives are lived small moment to small moment, in simple ordinary days. Yet, we all wonder when the big, larger-than-life moments will come along. We find ourselves asking, “Are we doing enough? Is our life big enough?” What if we believed that the small, ordinary moments are holy moments? What if we discovered God at work, weaving together a beautiful tapestry from the small holy moments of our lives? Through humorous stories and engaging conversation, this group will discover the value of simple moments and watch for God’s presence all around us, giving purpose and meaning to each day. The group is based on “The Church of the Small Things” (www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0m7pqnf3f4). Suggested contribution: $5.
