September 10: Blessing of the Backpacks & The Great Incarnation Fall Get Together

Sunday, September 10 will be a big day at Incarnation as we launch the start a new season of connecting, growing, and serving. All are welcome!

The Blessing of the Backpacks

Sunday, September 10 during all worship services: 8:45 a.m. & 10:05 a.m. in the Sanctuary, 10:45 a.m. & 6:00 p.m. in Incarnation Hall

The start of a new school year is an important milestone in the lives of students, parents, and all who work to support learning. Children, youth, and students of all ages are invited to bring their backpacks and book bags to worship as together we will extend a special blessing to kick off a new school year. During morning worship services, Pastor Joel Vander Wal will also have a special children’s message during worship. There will be a special gift for all who come to worship to help you remember God’s amazing love for you as you move through the year.

Blessing of the Backpacks List of Schools K-12

During all worship services on September 10, a slide show of schools will be shown in support of students and educators. Click here and please check this list of schools to make sure your child’s school is included in the slide show. Please note that some schools have been removed from the slide show from previous years. To add a school, email Erin Thorstad the name, location, and a photo of your school at ethorstad@incarnationmn.org by Wednesday, September 6.

The Great Incarnation Fall Get Together

Food & Fun

There will be special food, including hot dogs, mini-donuts, fruit-on-a-stick, and cotton candy. The coffee and lemonade usually served after worship will be outside so everyone can be part of the fun. There will also be games and inflatables for people of all ages to enjoy together.

Service Projects

New this year at the Great Incarnation Fall Get Together are a couple of opportunities to live out Incarnation’s new mission statement “Filled by God’s grace, we feed the hungry in heart, body, mind, and spirit” by participating in a service project. There are two options and you are invited to participate in either or both.

Powerpack: Centennial Foodshelf
The Powerpack Program provides a weekend bag of breakfast items, individual meals and snacks for school age children (K-12) in all  Centennial Schools (I.S.D. 12). On September 10, you can donate requested items or help sort donated items. Learn more about Powerpack.

Cards of Hope
Supplies will be provided for you to write a note or get creative in making a card that will provide a word of encouragement for someone going through a difficult time. Cards will be dispersed locally and through Phil’s Friends.
