Faith and Work

Faith & Work puzzle piecesFaith and Work Gatherings invite people from all walks of the employment world, to gather over a light dinner, a brief presentation by a professional person in the community, and table conversations to explore ways in which Christian values and faith tenets can be integrated into daily professional life.

These ministry gatherings seek to secure the following outcomes while upholding these values:

Outcomes

  • To provide a forum for participants who value the qualities of community (trust, authenticity, accountability, grace, transparency, confidentiality).
  • To provide access to resources/tools/strategies which integrate faith principles into organizations and relationships for those in positions of leadership/influence to individual contributor.
  • To address workplace issues of moral and faith dissonance in a timely and discerning manner.

Values

  • Confidentiality—To provide an atmosphere of openness and trust; what is said in a gathering, stays in a gathering.
  • Respect for time – Gatherings start and end on time. That said, if you are running late, feel free to join us when you arrive.
  • Talking and listening are both great gifts – Participants will watch the amount of “air time” so that everyone has a chance to speak. Active listening is encouraged and advice is not offered unless requested.
  • Knowing that lives are busy, participants strive to make attendance a priority if a registration has been made.
  • We will respect one another – Each person brings great gifts and unique perspectives and participants strive to model respect and care for others in our conversations.

Minding the Gap E-Thoughts

mind the gap image croppedMinding the Gap is a monthly e-thought created by founder and one of the co-leaders of Incarnation’s Faith and Work Ministry, Jim Grubs. Each Minding the Gap centers on a topic related to the integration of faith values and principles in the world of work, and is sent automatically to anyone who has previously attended a Faith and Work Gathering. If you would like to receive Minding the Gap, email Becky Benson who will include you on the distribution list. Previous Minding the Gap issues are available in PDF form below.
