Women

At the heart of Women’s Ministry is spiritual formation—the desire to help women explore, discover, and grow in faith and in their relationship with the living God through these varied opportunities.

Upcoming Opportunities

Esther Circle

1st Thursday of each month from 9:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. in the Fireside Room; September – May

A women’s fellowship and Bible Study group that is open to all women. Members also make quilts and midwife kits for Global Health Ministry.

Esther Circle invites women to the June mini-retreat, June 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This year’s program will include a brief history of art in Christian worship with visual and musical programming for the liturgical seasons of the church year. Jane Gehrking, Marlys Nelson, and Vernita Kennen (and all who attend) will be involved in the program. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m. with breaks including tea, coffee, and light snacks. You may wish to bring a bag lunch and stay to continue the conversation and companionship following the mini-retreat; several of the participants plan to do so.

Spiritual Spa: Centered

Friday, October 6 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Spiritual Spa is an evening retreat for women that happens three times a year. It is designed to give participants a time to connect with others and God as we explore what it means to be women of faith.

For the fall Spiritual Spa, the theme will be “Centered” and will be led by Pastor Jeanne Hartfield. Throughout scripture we hear the command to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and might.” As Christians, Jesus should be at the center of our lives and all we do but that’s not always reality. Sometimes we don’t even realize when we’ve let other things take over that place of honor in our lives. With a spirit of grace and gentleness, participants will reflect on what or who is at the center of their life and learn some practical ways of reconnecting with Jesus at the center. Register online or in the Incarnation Office by Monday, October 2

Please note: There is no childcare provided onsite out of a desire for participants to be fully present and enjoy a time of rest, reflection, and renewal. Contact Pastor Jeanne Hartfield with questions, to suggest a theme or speaker, or to request a scholarship.

Belong Tour Retreat 2017

Friday, October 20 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. & Saturday, October 21 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

BELONG_Logo_StackedA group from Incarnation participated in the inaugural Belong Tour in October 2016. Across the board, there were rave reviews. Incarnation’s block of ticket’s will be purchased in early 2017; if you are interested in participating in the 2017 Belong Tour, contact Pastor Jeanne Hartfield so she can better plan how many tickets to order. Like last year, the Belong Tour event will be book-ended by a Sunday lunch gathering before to get to know the other participants and a Sunday lunch gathering afterward to process the experience.

Ongoing Opportunities

Quilting

The second and third Thursday of each month from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room

Quilting is a great way to get involved if you like to work with your hands and you enjoy the camaraderie of other women. No experience is necessary. There are a variety of tasks and responsibilities to be shared. Volunteers are needed to assemble and tie quilts as well as cutting, sorting, and counting quilt squares. Quilts are distributed to LifeHaven as a gift to the moms who complete the program. Each year more than 100 quilts are given to Global Health Ministries for distribution to ELCA Mission hospitals throughout the world. Other recipients include Bible camps, mission visitors, refugees and needy families.
